Cascade Wilderness Medicine LLC is a licensed provider of the Wilderness Medicine Training Center’s curriculum. We offer trainings to outdoor instructors, guides and recreational users who want to learn skills to help others in the outdoors.

What we offer

  • Wilderness First Responder

    • For: Outdoor professionals, those who take multi-day or longer personal trips, those who take part in high risk activities (rock climbing, whitewater paddling, mountaineering, multi-week expeditions of all kinds, etc.), or those who simply want to know more about wilderness medicine. Certification as a Wilderness First Responder is the industry standard for outdoor instructors and guides. We recommend taking the full course every six years.

    • Standard 9-Day WFR

      • This course includes lectures and practical sections. Adult & Child CPR/AED certification is included.

    • Hybrid 5-Day WFR

      • This course requires pre-course study and successful completion of three online exams in order to attend. The classroom portion includes practical sessions only. Adult & Child CPR/AED certification is included.

      • Check the blog article: Is a hybrid course in wilderness medicine right for you?

  • Wilderness First Aid

    • For: This course may be the best choice for weekend campers, people taking day hikes within cell phone coverage, and those who are just looking for basic instruction. If you like it and want more, you can always come back later and take a longer, more intensive course. Our WFA course meets the Boy Scouts of America and the American Camping Association trip leader requirements. This course may be used to re-certify a WFR or WEMT.

    • Standard 3-Day WFA

      • This course includes lectures and practical sections. Adult & Child CPR/AED certification may be included - it can vary by course.

    • Hybrid 2-Day WFA

      • This course requires pre-course study and successful completion of three online exams in order to attend. The classroom portion includes practical sessions only. Adult & Child CPR/AED certification may be included - it can vary by course.

      • Check the blog article: Is a hybrid course in wilderness medicine right for you?

  • Wilderness First Responder and Wilderness EMT Recertification

    • Our WFR & WEMT graduates are encouraged to attend on a yearly basis to maintain and polish their skills. Prior to your course you should thoroughly review your original course materials; there is NOT enough time in a Recertification course to cover all the material presented in your original course...yet you are still responsible for knowing it. If you wish a more complete review of the WFR or WEMT curriculum, consider taking our DLP WFR or WEMT course. The course includes Adult & Child CPR /AED certification. WMTC certifications remain valid for a maximum of three years with no grace period: Check the expiration date on your card.

    • Graduates from approved wilderness medicine schools may recertify with us by successfully completing a Recertification course or by completing a Wilderness First Aid course and passing our online WFR & WEMT Recertification test if they are currently certified OR in their grace period. Click here for a list of currently approved providers.

    • There is a Standard 3-Day option and a Hybrid 2-day option
